Caretaker Minister of Energy

Traicho Traikov was born 19 April 1970 in Sofia. He attended the First English Language School in the capital. In 1994, he graduated from the University of National and World Economy with a major in International Economic Relations. He specialised in the field of control, analysis and management in Germany and Austria.

With more than 30 years of professional and managerial experience in the public and private sector, his professional path began in the consultancy and energy sector. He has worked in the international companies of CET and Roland Berger and later took managerial positions in EVN Bulgaria, where he took part in processes of integration, restructuring and increasing the efficiency of energy companies in Bulgaria and the region.

Between 2009 and 2012 he served as Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism. Following this position, his professional career continued in local government first as municipal councillor, later on as two-time elected Mayor of the metropolitan district of Sredets in 2019 and 2023.

Fluent in English, Russian, German and Romanian, he is married with two children.

He was appointed Minister of Energy in the caretaker government with Andrey Gyurov as Prime Minister on 19 February 2026.
