Cooperation between the government, the business and the academia is key to addressing challenges and creating a competitive environment for Bulgaria, Deputy Energy Minister Krasimir Nenov said to the participants in “Green business is GREAT” conference organized by the British Bulgarian Business Association in partnership with the UK Embassy in Bulgaria. The event takes place for third consecutive year and aims to highlight successful green initiatives by British and Bulgarian companies, focusing on the interaction between the government, the business and the society.
Among the participants in the form were the Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov, Deputy Economy Minister Nikolay Pavlov, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Vesselina Mincheva, the Chair of the Board of Directors of the British Bulgarian Business Association Miroslava Kostadinova, UK Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Rob Dixon, business representatives and others.
In his speech, Deputy Minister Nenov presented the main priorities of the Energy Ministry, highlighting the update of the Integrated Energy and Climate Plan, the Strategy for Sustainable Energy Development 2030, with a horizon until 2050, as well as the Roadmap to achieving climate neutrality by 2050 adopted by the Bulgarian Parliament.
Deputy Energy Minister Nenov emphasized the importance of the territorial just transition plans, which aim to address the effects of the energy transition and meet the demands of the employed in the sector by creating opportunities for new economic activities and quality employment.
Krassimir Nenov expressed his high appreciation for the form organized and noted that it is vital for our country to create the right conditions and opportunities to promote joint business activities between Bulgarian and British companies and institutions.
