The project to implement energy-efficient measures in Behr-Hella Thermocontrol EOOD in the town of Bozhurishte, financed through grants under the Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Energy Security Programme (REEEES), has been successfully completed. At the end of May, representatives of the Office of the Financial Mechanism, of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway to Bulgaria and of the National Focal Point, together with representatives of the Ministry of Energy, visited the company to learn about the activities carried out and the expected results of the project.

As part of the BHTC GmbH, one of the world's leading companies in the field of climate control, thermal management and human interface for the automotive industry, Behr-Hella Thermocontrol EOOD is one of the leading manufacturers of heating control and air conditioning management systems in the automotive industry.

With a grant of BGN 330 thousand, Behr-Hella Thermocontrol EOOD has deployed systems to measure and control energy consumption and to capture and re-use waste heat. The construction of a solar thermal system to support the fresh air drying process as well as a compressed air management system are also among the outgoing activities of the project, which also includes the replacement of natural gas by solar heat. This measure has achieved an environmental and financial effect that improves the company's long-term competitiveness and optimizes the production process through the deployment of energy-efficient solutions and technologies. More efficient energy management and reduction are other important results of the project, after which the company is expected to save 15.2% of energy per year, which is more than 1160 MWh. Reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1460 tonnes per year is one of the most significant environmental benefits of the project.

The Ministry of Energy is the Programme Operator of REEEES Programme that is implemented with the support of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021 under the Memorandum between Bulgaria and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
