The power supply to the settlements in North-western part of Bulgaria is expected to be restored by this evening. This became clear at a meeting of the Crisis Staff in the building of Belogradchik Municipality, in which the Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova took part. She visited the region of North-western part of Bulgaria, where a disastrous situation was declared because of bad weather.

As it is already known, heavy rainfall and subsequent sharp drop in temperatures, as well as the change of the rain into snow, led to icing and rupture of power lines, which left thousands of families without power for a few days.

During the visit of Minister Petkova in the area, it became clear that about 200 people from Vidin team of ESO have been working in place, together with representatives of CEZ, to eliminate the failures in the distribution network. For more effective work, officials from Montana and Sofia were involved too.

Currently, about 35 and 45 settlements in the municipality of Vidin still do not have power supply. A distribution line at Belogradchik substation provides emergency power supply, but it is limited. After the meeting of the Crisis Staff, it became clear that power supply for the medical institutions was provided and currently there are no destitute people. At the moment spare parts (a grid and a pillar) are being delivered from Gorna Oryahovitsa to the site of the disaster and "The rocks" power distribution line 110 kV which feeds Belogradchik is expected to be restored by the end of the day. During the visit of Minister Petkova it became clear that the necessary funds for the purchase of fuel for the generator at "Vrashka chuka" border checkpoint, whose reserve is exhausted, will be provided. She thanked the employees of the Border Police and Vidin municipality, who contributed to finding a solution to provide fuel for the border checkpoint.

The technical problems in the power supply are expected to be solved tonight.

Good coordination and work organization was created among all institutions in order to deal with the crisis situation in Vidin municipality, Minister Petkova stated during the verification visit in site. The government will provide all necessary assistance to the destitute people in the region in order to deal with the crisis situation more quickly and effectively, she said.
