Minister Zhecho Stankov insisted on additional measures to increase the security of energy supply to customers
Currently there are no settlements in the country without electricity supply

In view of the winter situation in the country, the Ministry of Energy monitors with caution the stability of the energy system. According to data of Elektroenergien Sistemen Operator EAD, Elektrorazpredelitelni mrezhi Zapad EAD, Electrodistribution North AD and Elektrorazpredelenie Yug EAD there are currently no settlements in the country without electricity supply.
In a letter to the three electricity distribution companies, the Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov insisted that additional measures be taken to increase the security of energy supply to customers in conditions of a complicated winter situation.
According to data of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology at BAS, in the coming days the weather situation in some parts of the country will be characterized by a sharp cold and snowfall, which could create conditions for icing on power lines, breaking trees and branches and increasing the accident rate on some sections of the power transmission and distribution networks, especially in mountainous areas.
In order to avoid crisis situations such as the one at the end of December last year, when more than 26 000 household customers were left without power supply, Minister Stankov insisted on increasing the number of emergency teams on duty and providing mobile generators for alternative power supply in suitable locations.
The Ministry of Energy is in constant contact with the Electricity System Operator and the three electricity distribution companies, which remain ready to deal with potential accidents. Every four hours, the administration receives an update on the occurrence of permanent power outages in the country.
Elektroenergien Sistemen Operator EAD and the three electricity distribution companies - Elektrorazpredelitelni mrezhi Zapad EAD, Electrodistribution North AD and Elektrorazpredelenie Yug EAD - have organized the work of emergency teams, which are available around the clock and cover the entire country. The teams are equipped with all-terrain vehicles and all the necessary materials to carry out emergency recovery work.
