Minister Stankov Discusses Deepening Cooperation in Energy and High Technologies with Members of the U.S. House of Representatives
As part of his working visit to the United States, Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov led a delegation that held a series of meetings with members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The discussions focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the United States in the fields of energy and high technologies.
“Bulgaria is a reliable partner and holds significant potential that can be realized through concrete projects and investments. We have the determination to take decisive steps toward building a long-term partnership with the U.S.,” Minister Stankov underlined.
Bulgaria’s geostrategic role as a balancing power and a transit energy hub along the north-south and east-west corridors was a key topic in the minister’s meeting with Congressman Brian Mast, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. They also discussed the potential of the energy sector to reinforce bilateral relations, particularly through concrete investment projects.
With Congressman Charles “Chuck” Fleischmann, Chair of the Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, discussions centered on opportunities to expand the already strong cooperation in nuclear energy and natural gas.
During talks with Congressman Brad Schneider, a member of the Foreign Affairs and Ways and Means Committees, Minister Stankov explored ways to promote U.S. investment in areas such as nuclear energy, data centers, and high-tech infrastructure.
The Bulgarian delegation also held an informal discussion with representatives of the U.S. administration, industry partners, and diplomatic officials on the topic of critical minerals and the supply chains for rare earth elements – a strategic resource for the green transition and the innovation industry.
Minister Stankov’s working visit will continue over the coming days, clearly demonstrating Bulgaria’s commitment to building sustainable partnerships, strengthening mutual trust, and deepening cooperation with the United States as a long-term strategic ally.
