Zhecho Stankov took over as Minister of Energy in the government led by Rosen Zhelyazkov. During his meeting with his predecessor Vladimir Malinov, Minister Stankov outlined the main priorities in the work of the Ministry of Energy. Among them are efforts to guarantee the country's energy security, with a focus on the stability and sustainability of the energy infrastructure.

In the context of continued high electricity price volatility in the region, additional efforts are needed to compensate non-household customers. This has a leading role in blocking inflationary processes and protecting household incomes by limiting the factors for price growth, Minister Stankov stressed.

The measures for stabilization and development of the Bulgarian energy sector, including through the construction of new nuclear capacities and PSHPP, as well as the support of the coal-fired power plants in the country to ensure energy stability are without alternative, Minister Stankov further stressed.

The team of the Ministry of Energy will work actively to create conditions to attract investments in the energy sector. Accelerated integration of European legislation related to renewable energy is also among the priorities identified by the Minister of Energy.

Participation in key EU energy initiatives as a leading condition for the country's leadership in forming regional positions for Southeast Europe in the sector is a factor for full and successful protection of national interests in the sector, Minister Stankov pointed out.
