Georgia and Bulgaria will seek to strengthen energy cooperation
Opportunities to increase energy cooperation were the focus of the discussions held during the meeting between Energy Minister Rumen Radev, Deputy Ministers Nikolay Nikolov and Krassimir Nenov with Georgia's Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Otar Berdzenishvili and First Secretary Vaja Guaramiya. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Energy on 10 August 2023.
The talks highlighted the diversification of energy sources supply, especially during the development of the so-called “Middle Corridor” connecting Europe and Asia, and above all the potential of the Black Sea as an alternative to land corridors.
Ambassador Berdzenishvili invited representatives of the Ministry to attend an energy forum in Georgia that will take place this autumn and the Bulgarian participants confirmed their interest in the forthcoming event.
Minister Radev and Ambassador Berdzenishvili agreed that now is the right time to start new joint projects between both countries, which are not only neighbors, but also partners.
