Bulgaria and Kazakhstan are ready to expand their energy partnership
Bulgaria and Kazakhstan are to unlock their huge potential in the field of energy, Energy Minister Rumen Radev and Ambassador of Kazakhstan Viktor Temirbaev agreed upon, during their meeting on 30.06.23 at the Ministry of Energy. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Energy Minister Iva Petrova, and Karina Angelieva, Head of Minister Radev’s Cabinet, together with Dauren Rakhmetov, Deputy Head of Mission, and Meijan Zumadhlia, Attaché at the Kazakhstan Embassy.
“For Bulgaria, Kazakhstan is not just a partner, but a reliable partner,” Minister Radev underlined and said that we have a clear understanding of Kazakhstan's capacity in the energy sector.
Ambassador Temirbaev stressed that Kazakhstan is the first Central Asian country to sign an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and its Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Kazakhstan. However, he expressed his regret that Intergovernmental Bulgarian-Kazakh Commission for Economic Cooperation had its last meeting in the in the distant 2016.
It also became clear that Kazakhstan is exploring the possibilities of delivering Kazakh crude oil through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and the Black Sea to Burgas.
Minister Radev advocated for deepening the relations with Kazakhstan and expressed the view that a broader Memorandum of cooperation, including the involvement of a number of ministries should be considered to promote investment and exchange of goods, exchange of expertise, education programmes, etc.
