Minister Petkova has ordered a joint emergency plan to be introduced with regard to the disastrous situation in Radnevo and Galabovo

By order of the Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova, a joint emergency plan was introduced for the system of draining the water of the river Ovcharitsa between "Mini Maritsa Iztok", TPP "Maritsa East" 2 and the dam area "Ovcharitsa" of "Dams and Cascades" - NEK. This guarantees coordinated work of all structures in order to overcome the crisis situation in the region.

As a result of heavy rains and overflowing of the river Ovcharitsa, the municipalities of Radnevo and Galabovo are in dire straits for the second day. The whole town of Radnevo has no power supply, except the hospital and several office buildings. Due to the limited capacity, other consumers are also included in case of need. In Galabovo, almost all the houses in the lower part of the town are flooded. Yesterday the railway to TPP 1 and TPP 2 of "Maritza East" energy complex was flooded for a while, but the situation is now under control and the suspended coal supply from the mines to the power plants was restored. Thanks to the introduction of the joint emergency plan, severe accidents due to disastrous weather conditions in Radnevo and Galabovo were not admitted.

By instruction of Minister Petkova, a Crisis Staff between "Mini Maritsa Iztok" and Radnevo Municipality has been working too.

An outdoor switchgear of Galabovo substation, which supplies electricity to the town, was flooded. Teams of military and engineer units together with ESO have been working there together to eliminate the failure and to recover the substation operation. In order not to interrupt the power supply to schools, kindergartens, hospitals and other important public buildings, power supply is provided through a medium voltage network.

In Chuprene Municipality, district of Vidin, where 8 villages are still without power supply, additional teams of ESO from Pleven were sent. They have been working together with CEZ for the urgent restoration of the high voltage network in the municipality, which is expected to happen in a few hours.
