Minister Malinov: U.S. Trade and Development Agency is a reliable partner of Bulgaria for achieving energy transformation
“Due to the active cooperation between Bulgaria and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), we will continue to implement the objectives of energy transformation. Working with a trustworthy and valuable partner such as USTDA, whose expertise and professionalism are undeniable capital, is key to the development of Bulgarian energy”. That is what Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov said during a meeting with the Director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency Director Ms. Enoh T. Ebong and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the U.S.A. to Bulgaria H. E. Kenneth Merten.
In connection with the agreement for conducting a feasibility study, signed today between the “Electricity System Operator” EAD and USTDA, Minister Malinov stressed to Director Ebong that the importance of the East-West Energy Corridor would be crucial for the markets in the region. According to him, the feasibility study should be carried out in the shortest possible timeframe. “The implementation of the East-West project, which will connect the electricity grids of Turkey, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro, with the possibility of reaching Italy, will allow more power to be transferred throughout the region, including from projects in North Africa and the Caspian region,” Malinov underlined.
“We count the excellent cooperation between Bulgaria and USTDA to continue and implement all the joint projects we are working on to make the Bulgarian economy greener. Director Ebong expressed to Minister Malinov her appreciation of the possibility to support the Bulgarian energy sector.
