Ministry of Energy requested the electricity distribution companies to provide information on the reading periods

The Ministry of Energy requested the electricity  distribution companies to provide information on the period comprising the  electricity readings  for the last month. The request was imposed due to  the frequent inquiries from citizens filed at  the Ministry, containing  suspicious that the amount of  the electricity distribution companies invoices for  November this year  are unreasonably high.

It is recalled  that according to the rules for measuring the amount of electricity consumed, the frequency of reading should be at least once a month, and the period should not  be longer than 31 days.

CEZ Razpredelenie  Bulgaria EAD noted  that they  strictly adhere to the  regulatory requirements and for November only 0.1% of the invoices were  issued for a period longer than 31 days due to the opportunity provided to the consumers to read the electric meter readings. In this case the reading  is carried out within the prescribed period, but the invoice reflects the date that the client has made their own reading. The reference  obtained from Energo-Pro Grid AD states that invoices  with reporting period longer than 30 days  are of 2.028%. This percentage covers  the electricity meters  being  read for  a period of 31 days. The letter stresses that no readings  for more than 35 days are included. EVN advised that  0.56% of the electricity meters of their users have been read for  period of 32 days due to bad weather conditions or other objective reasons.

The Ministry of Energy will provide the EDCs with any specific signals of citizens in order to make inspections and to carry out monitoring of the results.
